Chart Update - Nesian Mystik scores the hat-trick!

14/1/09

Mr Mista became the third consecutive top ten single from Nesian Mystik's recently released third album "Elevator Musiq". First up was the number one platinum single "Nesian 101" which was followed by the smash hit "Dance Floor" and today "Mr Mista" entered the top ten at number seven. Remarkably over the span of Nesian Mystik's career the group have notched up a total of NINE top ten singles from the albums "Polysaturated", "Freshmen" and "Elevator Musiq". The singles are: Nesian Style, It's On, For the People, Unity, What's Next?, If It's Cool, Nesian 101, Dance floor and Mr Mista.

It's been a Monster of a year for Nesian Mystik

1/1/09

May 2008 saw the return of Nesian Mystik to the music charts with the single 'Nesian 101'. This became their biggest song ever reaching number one in the New Zealand singles chart, spent 4 consecutive months in the NZ Top Ten, was certified platinum sales and the video received over 400 thousand views on youtube. An amazing achievement!.  Next up was the smash hit top ten song 'Dance Floor' and following that on October 27th was the release in New Zealand and Japan of their third album 'Elevator Musiq'.
Rounding up the year and according to the official Radioscope statistics for 2008, Nesian Mystik's single 'Nesian 101' has placed number 9 in the top ten biggest songs of the year, number two at urban radio next to U.S artist Chris Brown and is also the 2nd biggest NZ song. Even so, and taking into account their huge chart success and enormous popularity, the boys are wondering when mainstream pop radio are going to start playing their music. This is surely a testament to the power of youtube. Finally, thanks to everyone for all your support in 2008 and all the best for 2009. Keep an eye out for the new single and video 'Mr Mista' warming up the air waves this summer. Please spare a thought to the crippling losses in revenue that record labels and artists are enduring due to internet piracy and file sharing. Among other consequences, this is resulting in little or no investment back into new and emerging New Zealand artists.
